My name is Anthony Butler and I am the creator and writer here. I hope to share with you what I have learned and am learning about grappling—what works and what doesn’t work. I love grappling. It makes me feel more alive and helps me keep fit, sharp and learning. In my professional life, Jiu-Jitsu has become the metaphor for all that I do. I credit Jiu-Jitsu for most of my success and its underlying philosophy has increased my enjoyment and happiness in nearly every area of my life.
The difficulty of balancing a full time job where I routinely work 60-70 hours a week, travel, raise a family and still find the time to train and improve keep me up late at night. I realized I am not alone, and I am posting the best practices I discover along the way to to help us take our Jiu-Jitsu to the next level while working through and around the inevitable injuries that crop up from time to time.
Jiu-Jitsu (and this blog) are not about learning more moves or the secret move that will make you a black belt or get you into the UFC. It is about seeing the world through a pure lens of inner struggle to overcome all of the fear that holds us back from excellence on the mat and every part of our personal, professional and inner lives. It is the place where fitness, technique, mental toughness, strategy, diet, and habit come together to help us on the journey to becoming warriors of note garnering the respect of those we respect and most of all ourselves.
I hope you will join me on this journey of discovery.
Good training to you,
Anthony
